Sometimes we get so bogged down with the cares of this world that we miss living and enjoying life. We miss out on being used by God to make a difference in someone else’s life. Our life is described as a vapor according to James 4:14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
It appears for a short time and then vanishes away. The amplified version of this scripture compares life to steam coming from a cooking pot.
Yet you do not know [the least thing] about what may happen in your life tomorrow. [What is secure in your life?] You are merely a vapor [like a puff of smoke or a wisp of steam from a cooking pot] that is visible for a little while and then vanishes [into thin air].
This morning retired NBA player Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven other people were killed in a helicopter crash.
Although we know that death is something that will happen in life. There is an appointed time for everything… a time to give birth and a time to die. His sudden death is a reminder that we don’t know how long we have on this Earth. It is such a shame to waste life worrying about things that really don’t matter in the great scheme of things.
We miss out on being used by God to make a difference in someone else’s life.
Through all the tributes and videos that came across my Facebook timeline, one video in particular stood out to me. In this video Kobe is describing what his basketball camp is about but his words really go beyond that. His words describe how we should live our lives.
He says, “Have a good time. Enjoy life. Life is too short to get bogged down and be discouraged. You have to keep moving, you have to keep going. Put one foot in front of the other, smile and just keep on rolling…”
Life is too short to get bogged down and be discouraged. You have to keep moving, you have to keep going..
