Choosing To Trust God

trust God

I like to listen to scripture while I sleep at night. It is comforting and I believe that my spirit is being fed. I also believe that it reaffirms in me things that I have been reading in the bible. I have the volume down just low enough that it does not keep me awake. There are times when I happen to wake up just as a nugget is being spoken that ministers to me.

One morning I heard Proverbs 10:24: The fear of the wicked will come upon him, And the desire of the righteous will be granted.

It ministered to me because I had a few job interviews lined up for the next week and really wanted to get one. When you are in between jobs it can be discouraging waiting to be gainfully employed again.

As I was trying to fight the good fight of faith and not worry but trust God, I realized that as the scripture said, the desire of the righteous shall be granted. It occurred to me that you are going to get something either way. Will it be what you fear or what you desire? Job 3:25 said, “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.”

Something is going to come upon you either way and we can choose. I choose to trust God and expect my desires to be granted. Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” Thank you God for showing me that I have a choice in what I meditate on.

Why do we sometimes feel like God will not come through for us? We must always have a positive mindset to know that God always has our best interest at heart. He has good thoughts towards us. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the thoughts that I [God] think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
